Lately it seems as though you hear of so many people being diagnosed with the Human Papilloma Virus; almost to the point of being pandemic. In reality this is the most common STI (sexually transmitted infections) about 20 million Americans ages 15 to 49 currently have HPV, and at least half of all sexually active men and women get genital HPV at some time in their lives. So why is that you`re hearing so much about it now? The reason is that they`ve now made the correlation between certain types of the HP virus and cervical cancers in women but remember that there are over one hundred types of HPV and not ALL cause cancer. Awareness is key and the more you know the better off you`ll be. Ladies getting tested for your yearly PAP is recommended, where unfortunately for men there is no testing.
