Diabetes on the Rise Part 3 Knowing the Symptoms
Who hasn`t heard of Diabetes? Since we can`t see a show of hands, we`d like to guess that everyone has. Who actually know the symptoms of this disease? We imagine a large number of hands are going down. The point of this series of blogs is to raise Diabetes awareness so people stop sweeping the symptoms of this dangerous disease under the rug. Common symptoms of diabetes include (but are not limited to)
- excessive thirst
- appetite increased urination
- unusual weight loss or gain
- fatigue nausea (perhaps vomiting)
- blurred vision
- in females, frequent vaginal infections
- in both males and females, yeast infections
- dry mouth
- slow-healing sores or cuts
- itching skin especially in the groin or vaginal area.
If you experience one or more of these symptoms we HIGHLY advise requesting a glucose tolerance test from your health care professional. Diabetes is the most common disorder of the endocrine system and understanding its dynamic as well as knowing the risk factors and warning signs can be the first step towards managing it.
