Benefits of Coconut Water Questioned
Coconut water is widely touted as not just a great thirst-quencher, but good for your health. While it will quench your thirst, reports suggest the medical claims don't stand up to scrutiny.
According to the labels, coconut water is an all-natural version of manufactured sports drinks. It's said to have the same electrolyte balance, to restore lost nutrients.
However, an independent testing company has found that coconut water doesn't always live up to those claims. In fact, one brand tested had over a third lass magnesium than the label claimed, and nearly seven-eighths less sodium.
You can make your own sports drink, without chemicals. In a quart jug, put 1/2 cup of honey, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and 1/4 cup of lemon juice. Fill it the rest of the way with water, then stir or shake to combine.
